Most people don’t like bugs of any kind, but they cannot be escaped. Some insects are more likely to invade your home than others. Most of these pests are going to be more prevalent in the spring and summer.
Americans across the country cringe when they see a cockroach. It is the most common and the most dreaded of all household pests. Roaches are nocturnal and prefer dark spaces. By the time you see one roach, you likely have a major infestation. Contact an exterminator right away.
Ants are really more of a nuisance than a health risk, but that doesn’t mean you don’t want to get rid of them. Underground colonies send out ants to find food and water sources. They come into your home through cracks in windows and doors, and are most likely to enter in or near the kitchen. If you see one ant, many more will soon follow. If you destroy the anthill, the colony will simply rebuild. Contact an exterminator as soon as possible.
Perhaps the worst household pest is the bed bug. Bed bugs aren’t just an annoyance. They hide in beds, furniture, and cloth storage like closets and dressers. These insects feed off of the home’s inhabitants, leaving irritating, inflamed, itchy bites that can be scratched open. These bites can easily become infected. As soon as you see the first sign of bed bugs, you need to contact an exterminator immediately. If the infestation gets too severe, you may have to get rid of almost all of your belongings and start over.
