What Are Ghost Ants?

Ghost ants got their name because they look like regular house ants except that they are very pale and hard to see. These ants find their way into homes the same way that regular ants do—through cracks in the foundation, through drains, and through cracks in windows and doors. Because these ants are difficult to see, many people do not realize that they have a problem until it becomes a very bad infestation.

Why Spraying Doesn’t Work

Spraying for these ants doesn’t work to control them, and in fact can make the infestation worse. When you spray for ghost ants, they adapt by creating sub-colonies to escape the threat of the deadly chemicals. As they separate into additional colonies, they will increase their numbers, and that means that you have more of a problem than you did in the first place.
